We are in abnormal times now. Having been closed for many months under lockdown rules when we are again allowed to open our doors to holidaymakers we will be taking the same precautions as we did during last summer.
Foremost in our mind is your safety, our cleaner’s safety, our own safety and respect also for the wider community.
There are some things we have traditionally done which we will have to do differently to achieve those aims and this email explains them and the reasons.
Our Coronavirus Guarantee
We understand in these uncertain times that people are reluctant to book and pay deposits when it may not prove possible to take the booked holiday. Our guarantee is that we will refund in full any money paid to us if we are unable to open due to local restrictions or you are unable to attend due to travel or lockdown restrictions in your location.
However we hope you will be able to have your well deserved holiday and so the virus places much greater responsibility on us to not only clean as we would normally do but also to disinfect key areas as a minimum and wherever possible other areas. We have investigated the alternative ways in which we can do this and this has resulted in the use of steam cleaning some soft furnishings and disinfecting other hard surfaces with products meeting the requirements for killing Covid-19 if it should exist. It also required some changes in terms of the procedures we feel we need to adopt.
There are financial consequences for us as a result of the additional measures we need to take and we considered either increasing prices or setting a sort of Covid 19 special cleaning charge but we have avoided this and left our prices the same. In order to do this we need to ask for some co-operation from you to make it possible.
We have traditionally left unlimited towels in our laundry room but we cannot do that as it would mean cleaning all of the towels even when some of them may not have been used. We could ask you to bring your own towels but as we have plenty available we will provide each person with two sets comprising bath towel, hand towel and flannel. Whether you use both or not we ask you to bag them up at the end of your holiday along with some tea towels we will leave and they will be replaced with new ones for the next guest. You also have the washing machine and tumble dryer should you need to wash them for your own use.
We will use mattress covers and they will be changed between guest visits.
We have always supplied a full set of bedding for the main bedroom and also for the sofa bed.
Continuing to do this imposes serious handling and cleaning issues for us and so we have decided instead to ask you to bring your own bedding. The bed in the main bedroom is a 5ft bed so you will need an appropriate duvet and covers along with pillows and cases as you require.
If you intend to to use the sofa bed as a bed you will also need to cater for this. This is a 4’6” bed.
At the end of your stay we would then ask that you remove all of these and take them away with you.
I think many people in these circumstances might feel better having their own bedding anyway and so we hope you won’t find this a great inconvenience but if this does cause a problem for you please get in touch in advance so we can discuss this.
As we all know these are the days of recycling and we all have different methods with requirements for cardboard, paper, different types of plastic etc. For safety reasons we cannot deal with this except to a small extent. We would ask you only to consider waste in three categories. Bottles and glass for which there is a green box with no lid. Food waste for which there are bags for the small internal waste bin and a green bin with lid outside for full bags. All other waste should just be bagged up.
At the end of the week please make sure all bags and any loose waste are placed outside of the apartment. This means that our cleaner does not have to handle any of this.
We will supply hand sanitizer and we would urge you to use this when entering the apartment and generally clean surfaces often and wash your hands regularly. This is in everybody’s interests.
Tissues, Paper towels and toilet rolls
We will leave one new toilet roll in the apartment on your arrival but beyond that you need to bring any tissues, paper towels or toilet rolls you need with you or obtain them locally. If you run out or have problems contact us and we will help out but hopefully this is acceptable. Please take with you any part used items.
It has been our practice to leave a large box of soap powder but this is just another item we need to clean and disinfect so instead we will leave some wash liquid capsules. Please use them or throw them away afterwards as we will replace them with new ones. Please bring with you some washing up liquid if you need it and again take it away with you.
Cutlery and Crockery etc
We supply a good range of these items although we may reduce what is available during this period simply so that we reduce risk. If you feel there is anything you need that is not there please ask and we will almost certainly be able to supply it but it just helps us to know what needs to be cleaned and what does not.
When you arrive you should find the dishwasher full with clean items and you can see then that it has all been cleaned for you.
Arrival and Leaving
Due to the additional cleaning and disinfection requirements of the CoronaVirus we need to modify a few things to do with arrival and leaving.
The arrival time is now 5pm (however we will contact you if you request it if it is ready earlier) and we must ask you to leave the apartment on your final day by 10am.
When you arrive you should find that windows and doors are open and we would ask you to leave them open when you leave. We are advised that this is a good anti-virus procedure.
Dishes and cutlery will have been washed but there may be some further clean items in the dishwasher.
When you leave would you please load as much as you can into the dishwasher and switch in on using the dishwasher tabs provided or ask for one if you have run out. Leave any dishes and utensils you can’t fit in on the worktop and our cleaner will deal with those.
Please remove any of your own items including bedding and put out any waste.
Food waste goes into the green caddy with a closed top, bottles and glass go into the large open topped box and any other waste at all goes into a bag. Please leave the bag outside of the flat.
Travel home safely
During your Stay
We have taken great care to disinfect the apartment for you on arrival. After that you will obviously wish to go out and enjoy yourself and we hope you will do all you can to keep yourself safe and also avoid the danger of bringing back any virus as far as possible.
We don’t ask any more than that you conform to Government guidelines to social distance, use hand sanitizer wherever it is made available and of course to wash your hands when returning to the apartment and whenever you feel it is necessary. We advise wearing a mask in confined spaces but of course we cannot insist on this.
We are cautious about leaving hazardous materials in the apartment such as disinfecting solution in case there are children but if you request this we will be pleased to supply it so that you can also wipe frequently used surfaces whenever you feel it appropriate.
We will have done everything we can to avoid this and if you also take appropriate precautions then it should not happen but we have to lay down a procedure just in case.
If you should become ill during your stay you must inform us immediately so that we can discuss the best course of action.
You should immediately self-isolate to minimise any risk of transmission, and we will request a test for you.
If Covid-19 is confirmed you should return home unless this is impossible using private transport but you should drive yourself only if it is safe to do so.
The Welsh Government have stipulated that where a guest cannot leave the premises due to their illness then they must pay all costs which result. This would include anything we have to do to assist you but also may involve compensating us for lost income from other guests whose holidays we have to cancel.
Please refrain from putting out any rubbish. All rubbish should be double bagged and stored safely for 72 hours in the laundry room before being thrown out.
